Carma's Cafe is open Tuesday through Sunday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm for carry-out, curbside pick up or dining on the terrace. Things have changed a bit in the past six months (whopper of an understatement) so I'll catch you up on Cafe life. With so much love, appreciation and affection,Ĭan I tell you how excited we are to see so many students back in the neighborhood?! Don't get me wrong, the MOST important thing is that you stay safe but since everybody has to live somewhere we're so glad you are in Charles Village. Look for a Valentine's Day pop-up on the terrace February 12-14th! We can't wait to see you. Heck, we even repaired some refrigerators with fiberglass and boat epoxy resin! We have done demolition, construction, plumbing, electrical work, metal work, installed FRP. I would be remiss not to mention the Cafe staff members who have stuck with me through this trauma and drama. Without a doubt the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and PPP loans saved Carma's Cafe and it my sincere hope that once the dust settles the Cafe will be back serving those that have supported us for so many years. In the mean time we've begun repairing the main room (which is significantly more involved due to water damage). Anyway the problem has been found and a very temporary workaround put into place but we anxiously await news from building management about the permanent solution. Leaks are notoriously difficult to isolate and every time a "repair" was made we anxiously awaited the next rain to confirm success. Long story short, that little drip turned into something that eventually brought down the dinning room ceiling, damaged walls, compromised areas of the floor, shorted out electricity, caused damage to cabinets and counter tops.etc. We started renovations in back of house - the kitchens and thank goodness because we got some torrential rain in August and early September. Just a few drops really but it was reported to building management, fast forward to August. Back in June we noticed a small leak in the corner by the door when it rained. Optimistic? Sure but that isn't where our plans went awry. When we closed for remodeling the plan was six weeks.

Well, I feel like there's some 'splainin' to do.
